Segway Winner Announced
Duke University Law Student Wins a Segway i2 from Triangle Segway.
Raleigh, NC, October 02, 2008 --(PR.com)-- From more than two thousand entries, Triangle Segway of Raleigh, NC, today announced the winner of its Segway i2 in a giveaway promotion held by DowntownRaleigh.com.
The winner, Durham resident and Duke University law student Amy Keel, 26, was randomly selected from among 2,193 entries. Sign ups for the giveaway took place this spring at Artsplosure and all summer long at the Bud Light Raleigh Downtown Live concerts in Moore Square at the DowntownRaleigh.com booth. Those aged 18 and older were qualified to register.
Amy received her brand-new matte-black Segway i2 at a ceremony at the Triangle Segway dealership in City Market in downtown Raleigh, where she was congratulated by DowntownRaleigh.com sales and operations director Julie Johnson and marketing and events coordinator Antoine Pontón, and Todd and Sandy Masinter, the owners of Triangle Segway.
“I am so excited to use the Segway!” Amy said. “I plan on riding it to law school at Duke, about two miles away from my home, and around my neighborhood to the grocery and convenience stores.” Amy, who moved to the Triangle from Boston in 2007, said she also looks forward to “teaching my boyfriend how to ride it.”
The eco-friendly Segway i2 gets up to 24 miles per battery charge, which is the equivalent of 480 city blocks. Segways are self-balancing and powered by two lithium-ion batteries that cost only 10 cents of electricity to fully recharge.
Triangle Segway is the only authorized Segway dealer and Segway tour operator in the Triangle. Their City Market showroom at 327 Blake Street offers the latest i2 and x2 models, Segway accessories, and is also the starting point for their popular downtown Raleigh Segway tours.
