New Blog Seeks Iowa "Nice Stuff"

A new blog called "iowa nice" asks people to share positive stories about Iowans, Iowa places and Iowa websites.

Cedar Rapids, IA, October 06, 2008 --(PR.com)-- A new blog called "iowa nice" (http://iowanice.wordpress.com) asks people to share positive stories about Iowans, Iowa places and Iowa websites.

The blog's founder, B.J. Smith, who operates B.J. Smith Public Relations in Cedar Rapids, said he was "tired of so much negativity on the Internet, with nasty comments everywhere."

In a post on his bjsmithblog (http://bjsmithblog.wordpress.com) announcing iowa nice, he wrote about people who display "iowa nice" behavior:

"Once in a while you read about those nice folks in the newspaper in a letter to the editor - usually something like, 'Thanks to the stranger who returned my wallet.'

"With people helping people after our July floods, there were more good news stories in the news pages, but those stories are written by reporters and edited by editors. I want to see if other folks will share their stories, and in the process get a better idea of what it takes to get them to do so."

Smith said he announced the launch of iowa nice on Wednesday to some friends and family and asked them to spread the word.

"It was great to see just over a hundred hits that day and a couple of people sharing stories," he said. "My hunch is that there's some interest in this sort of information. We'll see."
