Habitat Announces First Event in Richmond County – Fall Family Fest
Aberdeen, NC, October 05, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Habitat for Humanity of the NC Sandhills is holding its first annual Richmond County event hosted by the First United Methodist Church in Rockingham from 11am to 2pm on November 15, 2008. There will be a chicken BBQ dinner, a raffle for a $100 gas card and plenty of activities for children. During the month of October, all area school and home schooled children can participate in a contest to draw their perfect home. Awards will be given at the Fall Family Fest for each grade level.
“We really wanted to hold a family focused event to celebrate our mission of helping families,” says Amanda Jakl, Special Events and Communications Coordinator. “With the economy the way it is, all the food and activities are reasonably priced and family oriented so that all families have a chance to come together, enjoy some food and entertainment and get to know their neighbors."
Some of the activities for children will include leaf rubbing, face painting, and games like ring toss, ducks in a pond and bean bag toss. Craft activity tables will also be available where children can make magnets, pencil toppers and bracelets. Game and activity tables will require tickets. Tickets will be sold for 25 cents each. Early in the event the Youth from Village Chapel of Pinehurst will be making balloon animals and putting on a puppet show. Arrive early so as not to miss the show.
One $100 Shell gas card and two $50 Shell gas cards were donated for the event. Raffle tickets are $1 each or $5 for six. If you’re interested in purchasing tickets, call 910-295-1934 to find a Habitat representative nearest to you. All proceeds made from this event will go to build houses in Richmond County.
