New DVD Video Follows 8,000 Mile Motorcycle Travel Adventure Through Southeast Asia
GlobeRiders’ new IndoChina Expedition DVD video series takes viewers on an extraordinary motorcycle travel adventure to Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.
Seattle, WA, October 07, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Indochina was a name given to the former French colonies of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. Today, these countries form the heart of Southeast Asia. In a new DVD travel video series released October 1, 2008, from GlobeRiders LLC, Seattle WA. USA, viewers follow an amazing motorcycle cultural adventure across Southeast Asia. The journey travels through bustling cities, floating markets of the Mekong Delta, ancient temples, and vast countrysides to discover areas and people of Southeast Asia seldom visited by Western travelers. The new DVD series is titled GlobeRiders IndoChina Expedition.
Riders in the show are Helge Pedersen (guide, photographer, author of 10 Years on 2 Wheels and founder of GlobeRiders LLC), co-rider Chris Poland (pharmacist from Seattle, WA) and award winning filmmaker and editor Sterling Noren of Wide World HD Productions, Seattle WA. USA .
The entire 8,000 mile, 71 day adventure journey was filmed in High Definition (HD) video as the team traveled through 6 countries including Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. The 100 minute DVD documentary and 6-part television series is the result of over 12 months post production editing by producer Sterling Noren.
Crossing boundaries in culture, politics and geography, the riders struggled with extreme road conditions, breakdowns, accidents and fatigue. Traveling by motorcycle gave the riders the ability to maneuver throughout the rugged backroads as well as main roads in each area. Rain and mud was a consistent companion throughout the journey. Motorcycling allowed for instantaneous stops along the way to interact with locals and visit areas seldom seen by most tourists. From the dense urban jungles of Saigon, Hanoi and Bangkok to remote hill tribe villages in Northern Vietnam, their expedition from Saigon to Singapore reveals a journey of discovery, challenge and endurance.
One of the first challenges the riders found upon arriving at their start point of Saigon was to maneuver in the bustling motor scooter traffic throughout the city. Among what looked like utter chaos, they found a symphony of motion and cooperation where throngs of riders showed a sixth sense in their ability to maneuver in crowded streets seldom needing to stop. The multitude of scooters was a stark sign of the times where 10 years ago most traffic was by bicycle. During their travels the riders also visited tragic reminders of past wars including the Pol Pot Killing Fields and the land mine museums. Although the scars and memories will remain for generations, many areas of Southeast Asia are healing from the past and are reconnecting with their cultural roots and lifestyles.
This is GlobeRiders sixth motorcycle video DVD program produced in the last 3 years. GlobeRiders founder, Helge Pedersen, has worked on all six programs in conjunction with award winning producer, videographer and editor Sterling Noren (travel adventure video series credits include: Silk Road Adventure, Iceland Adventure, Discoveries…America, Discoveries...Spain). Their videos are popular internationally for bringing viewers up close to extraordinary adventures and international cultures.
GlobeRiders IndoChina Expedition has a suggested retail price of $24.95. It is available nationally, along with other popular GlobeRiders DVDs, from on-line retailers, travel stores, book and DVD retailers, and motorcycle merchandise retailers including Touratech-USA (www.touratech-usa.com ) and Impact Video (www.impactvideo.com ).
