Veteran Film Executives to Teach Film Distribution Seminar and Workshop for All Filmmakers October 25th in Washington DC
On October 25, 2008, President of Passion River Films, Allen Chou, and President of Gallant Films, Josh Levin, will be hosting a film distribution seminar and workshop to help teach filmmakers the art of marketing their film and getting it distributed.
Metuchen, NJ, October 09, 2008 --(PR.com)-- With such great success in the New York City area, the film distribution workshop taught by veteran industry Executives Allen Chou (President of Passion River Films) and Josh Levin (President of Gallant Films) is traveling on a National Tour and is stopping in the Washington DC area for the 1st time on October 25, 2008. As they have in the past, Allen and Josh will help spread valuable knowledge to aspiring filmmakers who are interested in learning unique insider methods on how to make money on Independent features, Documentary films, Instructional DVDs, etc.
At their Film Distribution Seminar and Workshop, Allen and Josh will elaborate on several urban myths about the filmmaking world, discussing topics such as “Why getting your film into Sundance Film Festival just doesn’t matter”, “How to get film festivals to pay You for screening your film”, and “Why the Internet is the most important link in helping you make money”.
“Allen helped me understand the opportunities and at the same time helped steer away from the pitfalls to get the most out of the projects I was attempting to maximize,” says Tim Sullivan, Former Buyer, Netflix and Former Manager of Product Analysis & Buyer, Blockbuster Video.
As these Veteran Film Executives understand the hardships of cash flow for filmmakers, Allen and Josh are holding special promotions for friends of the Washington Film Institute and Student Filmmakers.
Allen Chou is President of Sales and Acquisitions at Passion River Films, a NJ based company that distributes over 300 documentaries. Many of his titles have landed retail shelf space in stores such as: Wal-Mart, Barnes and Noble, Blockbuster Video, Hollywood Video, Movie Gallery, Best Buy, and many more. In 2005, Allen established a distribution partnership with Netflix, resulting in the release of over 180 titles on their site; as well as other retail outlets. Internationally, he has attended Film and TV markets such as the American Film Market in Santa Monica, CA and Cannes Film Market in Cannes, France, where he marketed and licensed films and documentaries worldwide to broadcasters and foreign home video distributors. Allen Chou has recently taught a seminar class at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NY on film distribution that attracted clients from New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut.
Josh Levin is a film marketing and distributing executive who has brought more than 30 feature films to the US marketplace, including top award winners for Cannes, Sundance, Venice, Berlin, Toronto and Tribeca. As Chief Marketing Officer for Film Movement, Josh learned how to get hard-to-place films in front of the eyes of filmgoers across the country “by any means necessary,” from theatrical premieres in New York City to library screenings in Butte, Montana - while also learning how to get filmmakers paid for their art. Working with films with tiny of non-existent marketing budgets is Josh’s forte. Since starting Gallant Films in 2007, Josh has also begun working in production financing and consulting. Josh got his MBA from Columbia Business School, and his BA from the University of Michigan.
The Film Distribution Workshop and Seminar will be held at Lounge 201, 201 Massachusetts Ave, NE, Washington DC (One block from Union Station). Limited seating. Register at http://store.indiedocs.com/dclass.html
