US Internet Marketing Company Pulls Out in Solidarity with Jailed Moroccan Blogger
Dallas internet marketing company, SEO 1 Services, has canceled its planned to open a new office in Morocco due the crackdown on political descent and online bloggers.
Dallas, TX, October 11, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Dallas internet marketing company SEO 1 Services has suspended plans to open an office in the North African Kingdom of Morocco after it was news emerged that the Moroccan government had jailed a blogger for questioning government practices.
Mohammed Erraji, a 29-year-old Moroccan blogger, wrote that the dignity and integrity of Moroccan citizens had been compromised by the government's practice of giving gifts, such as taxi licenses, to those who showed extraordinary loyalty to the government. A relative of Erraji who was present at the sentencing told reporters that Erraji was not given an opportunity to explain his position or defend himself before being handed a two-year prison sentence and fine of $626.

Upon Erraji's arrest, however, SEO 1 Services made the decision to pull out of Morocco.

Morocco was the ideal location from which to serve our European and Middle Eastern clients, but we definitely can't ask our employees to work in an environment in which expressing descent against the government is a criminal offense. SEO 1 Services will continue to research alternate locations for its office that was to be located in Tangier.
