NSGCD Honors Volunteers at National Conference Over 120 Chronic Disorganization Professionals Gathered in September

St. Louis, MO, October 16, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The National Study Group On Chronic Disorganization (NSGCD) honored members for their service to the organizing industry at its Fall Conference, “Gateway to New Frontiers,” in St. Louis, Missouri in September. Over 120 professional organizers and related professionals from around the country and Canada gathered to discuss the latest trends in chronic disorganization.

Researcher, author and authority on obsessive compulsive disorder, Dr. Gail Steketee, presented sessions on compulsive hoarding, strategies to manage chronic disorganization and motivation. Other sessions and speakers included AD/HD expert Sari Solden, author of Women with Attention Deficit Disorder and Journeys Through ADDulthood, and Nancy Ratey, whose latest book, The Disorganized Mind, was published in April 2008.

NSGCD’s awards highlighted the outstanding efforts of professional organizers in their work with both the industry and their clients.

The Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Linda Arena for her exceptional volunteer service to NSGCD. In nominating her for the award, NSGCD board member Laurene Livesey-Park said, “As Chronic Disorganization (CD) Referral Coordinator she has been a treasure in dealing with the increases in CD referrals. Linda was a resource for the whole team, and has been instrumental in starting to put together a survey of our subscribers, as well as a database of subscribers who do remote organizing with clients.”

The Highlighter Award, the highest honor that NSGCD bestows, has been given only twice before, and only when the Board of Directors determines it is warranted. This year, Sheila Delson was unanimously chosen for the Highlighter Award. Delson, one of the original directors when NSGCD was incorporated in 2001, served on the board for more than six years, including terms as President, Certification and Teleclass Director. According to NSGCD Immediate Past President Lynne Johnson, “Delson’s determination that NSGCD’s educational offerings have a standard of excellence, and that the organization operate ethically and efficiently to under gird that excellence, have helped bring us to where we are today.”

About the NSGCD

The NSGCD explores, develops and disseminates to professional organizers and related professionals organizing methods, techniques, approaches and solutions that will benefit chronically disorganized people. Chronic disorganization is having a past history of disorganization in which self-help efforts to change have failed, disorganization undermines the current quality of life and the expectation of future disorganization exists. NSGCD’s organizing approaches and techniques benefit all clients, chronically disorganized or not.
