The Intrepid Wordsmith

Author Forging Her Own Way as a Novelist

Sarasota, FL, October 16, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Jamaican born author and bibliophile Tonya R. Moore begins her foray into the literary world with the publication of her first book, the product of a casual pastime which has evolved into a life-long passion for fiction writing - via Lulu.com, the online marketplace for digital content.

When not working at her full time job, Ms. Moore can usually be found at her computer desk, writing novels, short stories and poetry. "Fog Island Flowers" started as one of her short stories that simply refused to end and has since, somehow snowballed into an entire series of fantasy novels.

In her blog The Intrepid Wordsmith, she declared "For some time now, I've been wanting to do more - follow my own path writing-wise. Keeping an online journal, creating my own writing website and now, undertaking the publication of my novels and anthologies, started out as a means of exploring an inchoate desire to define how I wish to exist as a story-teller."

Ms. Moore wrote a great portion of her novel by hand, later transcribing from her notebooks to her PC. The manuscript, which took approximately six months to complete languished on her hard drive for over a year while Ms Moore contemplated her goals as a writer. She became fascinated by the endless array of useful tools and options currently available to writers online. Thanks to all of these web based resources, social networks and marketplaces, she was able to determine just what route she wants to take to becoming a self-made author of note.

"Fog Island Flowers" is the first volume of the "Cassandra" series, which is set in the modern world but draws on Ms Moore's love of both supernatural legends and futuristic Science Fiction. The book centers around Cassandra, an uncannily precocious child of unknown origin and her mysterious connection to the reclusive musician, Jonathan Baron; who seeks out his family's ancestral home on a cold island to the north and becomes entangled in an eons old saga of murder, madness, and macabre alien science.
