Wex Rex Presents Jimi Hendrix Concert Posters in Pop Culture Auction Oct. 26
Approx 700 lots of Rock N Roll and Hollywood Memorabilia will be sold at auction. Highlights include a collection of Jimi Hendrix Concert posters discovered and brought to market by Wex Rex Collectibles' Gary Sohmers.
Oceanside, NY, October 17, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Approx 700 lots of Rock N Roll and Hollywood Memorabilia will be sold at auction. Highlights include a collection of Jimi Hendrix Concert posters including a Jimi Hendrix Experience Cardboard Concert Poster for shows in Houston TX in 1969 that also features concert dates for The Monkees. Jimi had been the short-lived opening act on a 1967 Monkees tour which he had been removed from because of his stage show which included what was considered lewd acts by straight and uptight moms and dads. This concert poster is the only one known to exist and pictures the Experience. Also included on the poster are two other acts, Rod McKuen and Glen Campbell.
Other Jimi Hendrix items include the ultra rare, and extremely psychedelic, large concert poster for a 1968 performance by The Experience in Philadelphia at the Electric Factory. Also included are concert posters for Isle of Wight in England in 1969 that also features The Who and The Doors among others, and the iconic image Fillmore West BG 105 by Rick Griffin. The handbills include the Fillmore East BG 140 by Rock Griffin with concert info on back, the 1968 New Orleans concert and a Winterland concert program. Topping it off will be a Fender guitar promotional standee from 1968.
