“Despite the global economic crisis, we have 11 companies this year led by true entrepreneurs who understand the risks and rewards involved in exploring a new market,” said Viki Forrest, CEO of ANZA Technology Network, the organization that has helped hundreds of Australian and New Zealand innovative tech companies explore and enter the US market. “These companies possess leading-edge innovation and technologies and they’re ready to act now. As Silicon Valley has demonstrated, the tech market doesn’t stand still and these companies know that.”

The 2008 ANZA Gateway to the US companies will deliver 5-minute pitches to an audience of Silicon Valley tech execs, entrepreneurs and investors. They will demo their products and then join Plug and Play’s International Expo of Start-ups for an afternoon of fast-paced two-minute pitches in competition with companies from Canada, Mexico, China and Europe. Three companies will qualify for Best in Show honors determined by a panel of top Silicon Valley executives.

Ryan Junee, Australian-born founder of Omnisio, will be the featured speaker on Wednesday’s Business Forum Day. Junee and his partners sold their online video company to Google earlier this year.

“Ryan is a great example of Australian entrepreneurship and what young innovators like him can do once they realize how important it is to tap into the synergy of Silicon Valley,” said Forrest, who will interview Junee as part of the Australian Success Story Business Forum which will include audience Q&A.

In a marketing business forum, Brian Solis, Principal of FutureWorks will have a one-on-one conversation with leading tech market analyst Chris Shipley of the Guidewire Group. The two will discuss how international companies can create a viable marketing presence in Silicon Valley and why they need to do this.

A legal business forum and a CEO business forum complete the day. Speakers on these panels include Tom Cervantez of David Wright Tremaine, Jeremy Liew of Lightspeed Venture Partners, Larry Marshall of Southern Cross Venture Partners, Steve Larsen of Krugle, and Jennifer Zanich of Xumii.

“The business forum day is designed for any international start-up thinking about entering the US market – our speakers will share a great deal of knowledge about bringing business to Silicon Valley and what you need to know to be successful,” said Forrest.
