Fractional Ownership Resort in Muskoka Enjoys Robust Sales in Challenging Market

Despite challenging economic conditions, Blue Water Acres' fractional ownership development enjoyed robust sales in 2007 and 2008. Affordable interval prices, authentic cottage designs and a no-pressure sales and marketing program are credited by the developer as some of the reasons why Blue Water Acres is faring well in a challenging market.

Huntsville, Canada, October 18, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Despite a “perfect economic storm” Blue Water Acres is reported to have once again celebrated the highest level of fractional sales in Ontario, Canada this year.

Bill Van Gelder, developer, credits his success to three key factors; an affordable interval program, comfortable and authentic cottage designs, and a no-pressure, customer focused marketing and sales program.

“As the economy softens, people look more and more for value, and our fractional program offers great value,” said Van Gelder. “Our owners recognize that our smaller cottage sizes and quality construction mean lower maintenance costs in comparison to many competitive properties. We also offer flexible cottage use through access to international resorts with an exchange program at a fraction of the normal cost. And we offer a voluntary cottage rental program for our owners who may not be able to visit their cottage for some or all of their weeks of ownership”.

Industry representatives also agree that fractional ownership provides cottage ownership enjoyment without committing a large amount of equity to a whole ownership cottage. With a decrease in credit availability, fractional ownership may become more appealing to consumers who want the cottage experience, but not the whole ownership expense.

Blue Water Acres’ fractional ownership program was launched in May 2007. The development will include up to 44 two and three bedroom detached cottages in a secluded treed setting on Lake of Bays in Muskoka. Nineteen cottages are currently constructed.

The property features a sandy beach, indoor swimming pool, fitness centre, snow tubing hill, nature trails, boat dock and firepit. A clubhouse will also be developed. Blue Water Acres is a short drive away to internationally renowned Algonquin Park, the Hidden Valley alpine ski hill and the carriage trade town of Huntsville.

Five week intervals are priced from $29,900 to $79,900. Blue Water Acres’ highest interval price is typically the starting price for fractional intervals at other Ontario projects. Despite the competitive prices, ownership benefits include a maintenance free cottage lifestyle, a voluntary cottage rental program, and access to an international vacation exchange program. The quality constructed cottages feature flat screen televisions, screened Muskoka rooms, fully equipped kitchens, Canadiana furniture and more.

“Our owners tell us that the cottages have met and exceeded their expectations”, said Van Gelder. “They also love the natural feel of the property and we have worked hard to maintain the authentic cottage environment, unlike many other similar developments”.
