Roswell, GA, October 18, 2008 --(PR.com)-- PublishAmerica presents a new Children's fiction novel, The Magic Cottage Book One: The Velvet Bag Memoirs by Hannah Greer. The story follows the adventures of eight-year-old twins Asa and Prentiss Fallmark while they spend the summer with their granparents. Grammy and Papa set a goal for the month-long vacation: the twins are to investigate and stretch their imaginations without the use of television, electronic gadgets, or radio. Atop a hill near the grandparents' cottage the twins build an imagination transporter that takes them to the world of Serendipity where they meet unusual characters who provide wild adventures for the youngsters. Each character introduces the children to new scientific information. Although Asa complains about the educational data he learns about his new friends, Prentiss reminds her brother that Grammy's favorits saying is, "The world is your classroom."
The first in a series of stories that follows the twins as they grow older each summer, The Magic Cottage, provides experiential learning opportunities hidden within exciting adventures. Hannah Greer, an educator for over thirty-eight years and founder of an experiential school in Georgia, believes in the philosophy that learning for a lifetime must be fun and connected to personal experiences. The book offers just that. Children who have read the story remember that rabbits are plant eaters, connecting this information to the loveable but nervous character, Herbie Vore. They fall in love with Chrysalis Metamorphosis, Morph for short, a beautiful purple butterfly who leaves the children clues to new adventures.
Although children who read on a fifth grade level can enjoy the book themselves, it is a story meant to be shared. Parents will love exploring the trips to the magic castle in the sky, the paint world, the grumpy tree forest, Icthys Pond, and many more places, as they read to their sons and daughters. Visit the Hannah Greer website for more information.
The book is now available through Amazon.com or directly through PublishAmerica.
