The Counter Unveils Choice 2008
Culver City, CA, October 22, 2008 --(PR.com)-- With over 312,120 possible burger combinations, The Counter clearly prides itself on the freedom of choice it gives to its guests. Now, the Culver City-based build-your-own burger concept is taking its theory one step further: Inspired by the importance of the upcoming presidential election, The Counter has unveiled Choice 2008, where guests are encouraged to vote for their favorite burger.
From October 1st through Super Tuesday, The Counter guests can vote for their favorite burger either online at www.thecounterburger.com or at their local restaurant, where the regular clipboard menus will serve as ballots. Voters who enter their email addresses will be rewarded with an email offer for a free dessert and are automatically entered to win a dinner for four at their local The Counter. Once all the votes have been tabulated, one winner will be selected from each of The Counter’s 13 U.S. locations for the free dinner and every voter will receive a free “fifty-fifty” of fries, sweet potato fries or onion strings for participating in Choice 2008.
“We’re giving the power back to the customer,” said Jeff Weinstein, founder of The Counter. “We’re putting the choice in their hands. Ultimately, they’re responsible for what goes on their burger. They own that burger. It has their name on it. And it’s our hope that Choice 2008 will truly show our guests are just as unique and diverse as our concept.”
Founded in 2003 by restaurant industry veteran Weinstein, The Counter offers a fresh, unconventional approach to the American tradition of creating the ultimate premium burger. Proteins include 100-percent natural, freshly ground Angus beef, grilled chicken, ground turkey, house-made veggie and specialty seafood burgers with options of 10 cheeses, 28 toppings, 18 unique from scratch sauces and three types of buns, provide a dizzying array of choices available to premium burger lovers.
Since opening its original Santa Monica location, The Counter quickly gained national acclaim. In July 2005, GQ magazine columnist Alan Richman named The Counter’s “Build Your Own Burger” to his list of the best burgers in America and “The Oprah Winfrey Show” featured the GQ list shortly thereafter in a segment entitled “20 Burgers You Must Eat Before you Die”.
The Counter customers can choose from its standard selection of six signature burgers, including the Old School with fresh ground beef, Tillamook cheddar cheese, lettuce tomato, onions, pickle and red relish or the Taco Turkey with fresh ground turkey, jalapeno jack cheese, lettuce, scallions, dried cranberries and spicy sour cream. But 80 percent of The Counter customers choose to “Build Your Own Burger” and get creative with the hundreds of thousands of possible variations that The Counter offers them. The Counter’s burgers are made from certified humane-raised, natural grain-fed beef and are available in 1/3-pound, 2/3-pound and one-pound patties. Customers are given a clipboard from which to make their selections when they are seated in The Counter’s full-service, sleek, retro-feel dining room.
The variations seem to never end. Unique monthly burger selections include such choices as Old Bay Lobster Cake with Fried Artichoke Hearts or a Ground Ahi Tuna Burger with Saffron Aioli. Other popular menu items include the Burger in a BowlTM – The Counter’s version of a salad featuring a burger without a bun – fried pickle chips, sweet potato fries and crispy fried onion strings along with additional appetizers, sandwiches and desserts.
