Local Author Self Publishes Joke Book, Now Available on Amazon

Sunderland, United Kingdom, October 22, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Mark Chandler, 27, of Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, has achieved a dream - to have his joke book, The Laughter File, published.

Mark embarked on his mission whilst still a teen. He says, "I love jokes - I always have. It all started when I began collating jokes - I'd rewrite them on my computer, and then store them in a lever arch file that I dubbed 'The Laughter File.' A number of years ago, after I had built up hundreds of jokes, I decided to see if I could publish The Laughter File as an actual book."

This he accomplished, using just his computer, Microsoft Word, and an online publishing company, Lulu.com. After categorising his jokes and formatting his piece of work, he uploaded it to Lulu.com, where it was available to purchase.

Mark explains: "Lulu.com is a Print on Demand publishing company. If someone wants to buy The Laughter File, Lulu will print the book for that person and ship it individually to them - therefore eliminating the need to have multiple copies of the book permanently in stock."

In August, Lulu.com waived the fee on their distribution package. This allowed Mark to request them to act as his Publisher, whilst he retained copyright of the book. Lulu.com assigned the book an ISBN, and sent this information to bookstores.

The book is now available to purchase online from Amazon.co.uk

Mark says: "I'm absolutely over the moon that The Laughter File is now available for everyone to buy. It took me a long time to accomplish this goal, but being able to leaf through a book with my name on the cover is an absolutely fantastic feeling."
