IonSense to Present DART-ET Source for Mass Spectrometry at the Annual Symposium on Chemical and Pharmaceutical Structure Analysis
New technology enables high throughput direct analysis of solid and liquid samples for drug development, food safety, forensics, and medicinal chemistry.
Saugus, MA, October 23, 2008 --(PR.com)-- IonSense, Inc. will be presenting results from its new DART-ET ionization source at the 11th Annual Symposium on Chemical and Pharmaceutical Structure Analysis (CPSA) in Langhorne, PA on October 27-30, 2008. The company will highlight its recent work in a presentation titled “Sampling from Surfaces with High Throughput DART Analysis as an alternative to traditional LC/MS/MS for Bioanalytical Assays”. The results demonstrate sensitive and accurate results compared to those generated by traditional LC/MS/MS methods.
The DART-ET will enable customers to routinely analyze solid samples such as food ingredients, tablets, thin-layer chromatography plates, and other solid surfaces using the direct-analysis-in-real-time or DART mass spectrometry sources. The DART-ET incorporates an automated linear slide for easy sample positioning and an adjustable DART source holder, providing the means to adjust the angle at which the desorption gas strikes the target. The DART-ET is mounted onto the mass spectrometer systems available from JEOL, Thermo, Agilent, Waters, Bruker and Applied Biosystems using the Vapur™ interface. This integrated sample handling system is accompanied by a new collection of customized sample positioning modules.
“Our customers asked us for the means to directly analyze solid samples, and we have addressed their needs with this novel solution’” according to Dr. Brian Musselman, IonSense Chief Operating Officer. “Sampling solids directly means that significant time can be saved for challenging problems such as contaminated baby food, or drug candidates from dried plasma” according to Musselman. DART ionization sources are now deployed in over 100 laboratories involved in drug development, food safety, forensics, chemical synthesis, and medicinal chemistry.
