OddShoeFinder.com Celebrates First Anniversary

OddShoeFinder.com, a site launched in October 2007 to allow users with severely mismatched feet to exchange their unused shoes, has become much more useful and user-friendly in the year since it began.

Falls Church, VA, October 25, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Since its launch in October 2007, OddShoeFinder.com has made a number of improvements to make the site more useful and user-friendly. The site, which began as a way for people with severely mismatched feet to exchange unused shoes with each other, now has thousands of postings of single shoes and mismatched pairs of shoes. Users of the site live in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia, Singapore, Brazil, and New Zealand. Site owner Kent Basson offered thanks to all users who provided comments and suggestions for ways of improving the site.

One of the earliest improvements to the site was a message system that allows potential buyers to contact sellers with questions and comments. At the site’s birth, the only way buyers and sellers had of contacting each other was to request a purchase. A forum added a few months ago allows users to also leave messages for all users and visitors to the site.

Many early users of OddShoeFinder.com had problems uploading photographs of their shoes. As a result, the site has been improved to automatically reduce the file sizes of photos to fit the allotted space – although the web server still limits uploads to a file size of 2Mb or less.

Rather than having to revisit the site on a regular basis to review new postings, users now have the option of being notified once a week when new shoes are posted in their sizes. Also, users can now search in ranges of sizes rather than only being able to search for shoes in exact sizes.

For users posting shoes, the site now defaults to information last entered rather than presenting the user with blanks to be filled in for each entry. This is useful to those posting multiple pairs of the same brand and style of shoes.

While not a planned improvement to the site, Basson notes that people with matched feet have begun to post and buy shoes on the site. This may be due to the fact that OddShoeFinder does not charge buyers or sellers, but still offers users advanced search features.

Still more new features are in the works, including the ability of buyers to rate sellers as is done with other sites such as eBay. OddShoeFinder.com continues to welcome comments and suggestions from potential users.
