Nail-Aid Nail Treatments Give Teens Beautiful Nails Without Risking Their Health

North Miami Beach, FL, October 26, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Florida-based nail treatments manufacturer Nail-Aid supports the action recommendations from a recent study that found an average of 13 hormone-altering chemicals in teenage girls. The Environmental Working Group found that teenagers who used mass-market body care and cosmetics products were at risk of exposure to hormone-altering chemicals on a daily basis. Hormone-altering chemicals can affect body systems including the reproductive system and immune system. Since girls experience a rapid maturation of all major body systems during their teenage years, they are particularly at risk for negative long-term health consequences from exposure to these chemicals. The EWG’s study found hormone-altering chemicals including parabens, triclosan, musks, and phthalates in all of the teenage girls tested.

Phthalates are a common ingredient in nail polishes and nail treatments, such as strengtheners and whiteners. They are known to affect the reproductive systems of fetuses in pregnant women, though effects on teenage girls’ reproductive systems are inconclusive. Nail-Aid, a maker of nail treatments, is committed to the health of women of all ages, and has led the industry by never using phthalates in any of its product formulas. Nail-Aid has also never used toluene, a neurotoxin, or formaldehyde, a pseudo-estrogen linked to some cancers. Nail-Aid has also strictly avoided these chemicals in all of its products, opting instead to use benign or beneficial plant-based extracts and small doses of multivitamins to strengthen and beautify nails.

Supporting women’s health initiatives has been part of the Nail-Aid corporate philosophy since the beginning. Nail-Aid was the first nail treatment manufacturer to partner with the Breast Cancer Fund and the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics. The Environmental Working Group Study concluded that teens and their parents should become educated consumers through research into companies offering personal-care products without hormone-altering chemicals. Nail-Aid is proud to be listed in the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics’ database of such companies.

Nail-Aid practices corporate responsibility guided by care values. Protecting the health of its customers is just one cornerstone of its corporate philosophy. Find out more about Nail-Aid’s progressive values at www.NailAidWorks.com.
