Columbia, SC, October 28, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Samurai Karate Studio held a Halloween Safety Workshop on Saturday, October 25th from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. Owner Sensei Chris Feldt, presented safety issues for children and adults to review before going out to trick or treat on Halloween night.
"This workshop is part of our keeping our neighborhoods safe theme and was designed for the children and their parents who would be out trick or treating Halloween night," commented Sensei Feldt. "It is important that children follow certain safety guidelines so that this can be a fun night without any problems."
During the presentation, Sensei Feldt presented general safety tips on costumes, particularly the length of them and making sure kids have the ability to see clearly. "Many times children make their own costumes, which is great, however, they make them so that either they are tripping over them or can't see out behind their mask, making walking very difficult," stated Feldt.
In addition to general costume safety, Sensei Feldt covers what to do if someone were to try and grab a child, or if a car pulled up inviting the child in for a ride. "Strangers will say things to entice children into the car, in particular, they love to offer lots of candy," stated Feldt. "We try to remind them never to get into a car, or walk into a house, no matter what! And if someone tries to grab them, we teach the kids to drop to the ground and yell loudly."
After the workshop, pizza and drinks were served and the kids got to play a few games before leaving the studio. "I wanted this to be a serious workshop, yet, give the kids a chance to play some games and spend a little energy as well as have something to eat!"
Samurai Karate Studio teaches a traditional style of Japanese karate and teaches children and adults beginning with children age 3 and up. If you would like more information about the studio you may call 803-462-9425 or visit our website at www.samuraikaratestudio.net.
