Manhattan Event Planners Beat Economic Woes to Raise Over $36,000 for the Fight Against Diabetes
New York, NY, October 29, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Despite the current economic crisis, Manhattan based event planning agency, Penta Dynamic Solutions, has found that people are still donating generously to support worthwhile causes by raising over $36,000 for the American Diabetes Association (ADA) at their Second Annual Penta Cares Charity Golf Outing.
The Outing, which took place at Lido Beach, NY, on October 6, saw over 200 sponsors, donors and golfers support the cause, showing that charity donations haven’t been completely affected by the downturn in the health of the economy.
Penta Cares, which was created in 2007 following the success of last year’s Charity Golf Outing, is a philanthropic division of Penta Dynamic Solutions, which partners with non-profit organizations to raise funds and awareness for worthy causes through events. This year’s honoree was 6 year old diabetes sufferer Nicole Sciarrino who spoke at the evening reception about the daily challenges she faces in her struggle against the disease.
The Golf Outing was one of two wrap-around events Penta helped organize to raise funds for the ADA in the lead up to the “Live the Good Life” Gala at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel on Thursday, November 6.
The Gala will draw attention to the global issue of diabetes ahead of the United Nations World Diabetes Day on November 14 and honors three distinguished men from business and medical backgrounds who have made a significant contribution to helping those affected by diabetes. The honorees include Scott Hartman, Founder and Managing Director of SeaView Capital Advisors, Dr. Van Dunn, CMO of Metroplus, and Dr. Peter Sheehan an Endocrinologist and President of the ADA Leadership Board.
“We are very grateful that in these times of financial uncertainty people still feel it is a priority to support a worthwhile cause such as this,” said Penta President Michele Verdino. “As the honoree of our Golf Outing Nicole Sciarrino has shown, diabetes is a debilitating illness to live with which is why the work of the American Diabetes Association is so important. We hope that the Gala will build on the success of the golf outing by raising even more funds for diabetes research, education, and advocacy.”
