New York Attorney General to Return $2 Million to Business Yellow Pages Company
New York, NY, October 29, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The Attorney General of New York, through its administrators The Garden City Group, has agreed to return $2 million to a local internet yellow pages company, Bright Pages LP. This money represents the balance of monies not needed for restitution when it was determined that the overwhelming majority (over 95%) of Bright Pages customers had knowingly received the services promised by Bright Pages.
In February 2008, the New York Attorney General’s Office and Bright Pages LP entered into a Settlement Agreement. This settlement was a testament to the willingness of Bright Pages to go above and beyond industry standards of customer care and corporate accountability, reasoning that the more time spent fighting the claims of the Attorney General, the less of a service they could provide to their customers. The Attorney General of New York did not deem the company guilty of any fraud or deception and has stated that Bright Pages is free to continue doing business in New York.
Bright Pages feels that the amount returned is a direct reflection of their commitment to provide a business advertising solution that is both cost effective and simple to understand. Bright Pages LP cooperated fully with the Office of the Attorney General, providing many examples of direct mail solicitations used in the past. Bright Pages also helped the Attorney General’s Office understand the long history of the "yellow pages" and the "walking fingers" logo while demonstrating the efficacy of Internet Yellow Pages.
