Burbank, CA, October 30, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The Red Chair Children’s Production Company presents the classic holiday ballet “The Nutcracker” at the historic Alex Theatre in Glendale, CA on Thursday, December 4 at 7:30 pm.
Unique among area holiday presentations of “The Nutcracker,” is the Red Chair Children’s Production Company’s cast of over 100 children and teens, ages 5 to 18, given the rare and highly desirable opportunity to perform principal and supporting roles in this timeless, classic ballet alongside adults. The performers will bring to life “The Nutcracker,” the enchanting storybook tale of a young girl’s magical Christmas Eve that takes her, and the audience, on a delightful and exciting journey.
Continuing its commitment to providing live performing arts programs to local schools and communities, the Red Chair Children’s Production Co. will present a free daytime performance of “The Nutcracker” to children from public and private schools from throughout the San Fernando Valley. The field trip to the legendary Alex Theatre allows young students the chance to experience the art of ballet in a live performance, often for the very first time.
In addition, there is an evening performance of “The Nutcracker” open to the public and benefiting the Red Chair, a non-profit organization. Tickets for the evening performance are $14 to $24 and may be purchased at the Alex Theatre box office at 216 N. Brand Blvd. in Glendale, or by calling (818) 243-2539 or via www.alextheatre.org. Enjoy live classical music, an array of desserts, festive holiday beverages, and meet Clara the star of “The Nutcracker,” plus other characters from the show. Admission to the Land of Sweets is $55 per person and includes premium seating at the show. Land of the Sweets tickets may be purchased at the Red Chair School of Performing Arts.
