Huddleston and Husky Dominate The Inaugural Inferno MX Racing Series

On a track custom designed and built by Napalm MotorSports for Central Texas’ MX enthusiasts, Napalm MotorSports’ Inferno MX Racing Series opened with a fury on Sunday, October 26th. Under beautiful, blue Texas skies, a crisp 70 degree Sunday afternoon in Austin reverberated to the sound of Jeremy Huddleston’s shrieking two-stroke Husqvarna CR 125 on his flight to the podium, time and again. Saddled up on the powerful, light weight and blazingly quick Napalm MotorSports sponsored Husky, Huddleston roosted around the competition on the twisty and technical Inferno MX Track, with come from behind victories in the combined Open 2-stroke and 450 4-stroke class and the Titus Electrical Systems - Dash for Cash.

Joining Huddleston on top of the victory podium was fellow Napalm MotorSports teammate Tommy “Gun” Miller, mounted up on the new, howling Husqvarna TC 250 4 stroke. Charging into the lead in the Open class, Miller was hotly pursued by Huddleston in an epic battle for pack dominance, with each rider leading multiple times at the end of Moto One. When the checkered flag came down, it was Huddleston and his screaming Two Stroke getting the nod. With a must win situation on his hands, Miller controlled the start in Moto Two and had to beat Huddleston to win the overall. With Huddleston nipping hard at his heels the entire race, Miller used the tractable power of the 4 stroke 250 to ease open a gap between he and Huddleston in the waning moments.

Pro racer, Danny Kelsey came out and challenged the snarling Husqvarnas in 3 classes aboard his CRF 250. Huddleston faltered in Moto Two on a double, loosing too much ground to the returning Pro. Kelsey capitalized, ultimately coming away with a win in the 125 Expert Class, the only Expert Class win not taken by the Huskys on a day of total Pack dominance.

Always entertaining, the Beginner Open Class did not fail to deliver, with spills and hoots aplenty. Jeff Nichols, of Napalm MotorSports, traded his road racing leathers and slicks for body armor and knobbies, in a less than glamorous debut. The tight technical track with undulating twists and turns, doubles, step-ups and step-downs proved more than many could conquer as rider after rider fell over in turns and repeatedly stalled their bikes. However, none were as spectacular as Nichols, hole-shotting his second Moto, dazzling the crowd with feet off the pegs performance and spectacular saves, lap after lap. Then, on the white flag lap it was Nichols going for the double, landing on a wheelie, unable to steer, going over the berm and endo’ing harmlessly into the spectator lined fencing to the applause of all. In the 250/450 combined beginner class it was Napalm MotorSports’ own Todd Seale twisting the loud handle, ripping the holeshot on the mighty Husqvarna TC 450 and holding off the pack all the way to the flag.

In the mini ranks, it was CRF 150 mounted Chris Morris putting on an exhibition for the crowd as he blasted away from the other combatants. Morris lined up with the Experts in the 125 Expert Class and distinguished himself by nearly getting the holeshot and hanging with the big boys before losing touch after the halfway mark. Brandon Mason used the power of his KTM 65 to dominate the 65cc class with wire to wire victories.

The Napalm MotorSports Inferno MX Shootout will resume next Sunday, November 2nd, with practice on Saturday, November 1st. Come on down see the Austin State Fair at the Travis County Expo grounds, have a giant corn dog and watch the racers fly in formation as they duke it out bar to bar on the Inferno MX Track.
