GBBR Charitable Foundation Raises $14,500 to Support Baltimore Area Students Through Adopt-a-Classroom
Baltimore, MD, October 31, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The Greater Baltimore Board of REALTORS® Charitable Foundation is awarding $14,500 to help support local schools through the Adopt-A-Classroom Program. Twenty-nine classrooms in Baltimore area schools will receive a $500 stipend for teachers to purchase equipment, supplies and materials that would otherwise be unavailable.
The Adopt-A-Classroom program harnesses the resources of the community to enrich the classroom environment and increase a student’s chance for success. One hundred percent of all contributions to the program go directly to benefit students. Throughout the year, the GBBR Community Service Committee raises money through special sales and events. In addition, “Pencil Sponsors” generously donated $500 to support an entire classroom. To date, 137 classrooms in the Baltimore area have been adopted through the generosity of GBBR members and friends.
“It has been a wonderful experience working with the committee in helping to raise funds for the Adopt-A-Classroom program,” said Phil Engers, senior real estate consultant with RE/MAX American Dream and chair of the GBBR Charitable Foundation’s Community Service Committee. “The real reward has been going back to the classrooms and meeting with the teachers and their students that have been awarded the funds and seeing first hand the benefits of the program. We look forward to providing the teachers and students funding for their future success.”
