iUniverse Would Like to Announce the Release of Daughter of Mine by Laura Fabiani

Bloomington, IN, October 31, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Adoption issues take center stage in fiction novel

Daughter of Mine shares story of a woman looking to uncover her past while traveling to Italy to find peace in the future.

In Daughter of Mine, Tiziana Manoretti’s work as a mechanical engineering technologist brought a hectic pace to her life. But after her mother falls ill and a family secret is revealed, her stable personal life begins to take many twists and turns with a result that most would never predict in this fiction novel.

Tiziana learns from her parents, despite her father’s reluctance, that she was adopted from the Santa Maria Della Fede orphanage in Gaeta, Naples. This admission from her parents leaves her dazed and her personal life in turmoil with hopes from her father, Steven, that things won’t have to change. "But things have already changed, Daddy," Tiziana contemplates. She then turns to her close friend, Christopher, for comfort.

Tiziana decides to travel to Italy to find her birth parents, and during the trip readers get a chance to learn a number of different Italian phrases as well as the sights and sounds of Italy. They also meet Gian-Carlo, who becomes an important part of Tiziana’s life while she is in Italy, even as she tries to stay in touch with Christopher, who continues to hold a special place in her heart.

But not everyone in Naples is helpful to Tiziana as she struggles to obtain her records from the juvenile court. After someone breaks into her room and tells her to leave town, she feels she may never find out the answers that she truly desires.

Throughout her journey, Tiziana discovers herself while her family’s resilience and love for one another is tested and confronted with a painful truth. Written with insight, humor and plenty of Italian flare, Daughter of Mine explores the extent of a parent’s love for a child and a family’s willingness to forgive.
