New Blackberry Application to Keep Track of Gas Mileage
Bonn, Germany, October 31, 2008 --(PR.com)-- German software development group thinkomatics releases the new Blackberry application MileageMeter, which records and analyzes the gas usage of cars, trucks and motorcycles.
All drivers around the world share the same pain, when they see their money disappearing at the gas pump. We all have heard those tips how to increase the gas mileage like increasing tire pressure and reducing highway speed. However, how much these tips help and what the real overall gas mileage of our vehicles is often remains unknown.
At least for Blackberry users, MileageMeter can help to easily resolve this dilemma: Users can record gas re-fills in this native Blackberry application, which immediately calculates the average gas mileage for the last tank of gas. Additionally the software keeps a history of the vehicles gas usage. From this data MileageMeter computes helpful statistics such as the overall gas mileage, the money spent for gas per mile and the highest number of miles driven with one tank of gas. Moreover MileageMeter displays the mileage graphically over time. These statistics can be very helpful for the driver to better understand what factors are most efficient to reduce gas usage.
According to Mari Hoffmann, the head developer of the java application "MileageMeter puts an end to the hassle of collecting gas receipts and spending long sessions with the calculator.” Users can enter miles, gas amount and price into the MileageMeter application in seconds and know right away the gas mileage of their car. MileageMeter can keep track of the gas mileage of up to 20 different cars. Ms. Hoffmann explained, "One MileageMeter beta tester kept track of the gas mileage of three family members. The family had a competition, who could get the best overall gas mileage. After a few weeks they all lowered their gas consumption by more than 15%!".
More information and a free demo version of MileageMeter are available at http://www.thinkomatics.de. The demo version can be used to try out the program risk free and is only limited to record not more than 8 gas re-fills. After registration at a cost of USD 3.95 the trial version converts into an unrestricted version. MileageMeter runs on all Blackberry models with RIM OS version 4.0 or higher.
