Denver, CO, November 06, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Elizabeth Bublitz, along with Lori and Jack Cavanaugh have created a fund in memory of BoBo, a six year old deaf Yorkshire Terrier who died of abuse by his owner, Tanya Martin in Lakewood, Colorado. The fund is called BoBo's Legacy. On October 19, 2008, BoBo was hogtied with duct tape and placed on a burning phone book on her stove. He was rushed to Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital by West Metro Fire Department, but died on Thursday, October 23, 2008.
Bublitz and the Cavanaughs share their love for animals and were particularly bothered by this story since BoBo was a gift to a mentally ill person. Bublitz explains, "I believe there should be a way to screen people who are not qualified to own a dog or have any kind of responsibility. Lori, Jack and I want to change the way animals are adopted. We would like to create a registry with names of people who have abused an animal. If the seller of the animal does not check the registry, then the person will be fined or held liable. This fund puts restrictions on adopting animals."
The fund is also raises money for other pets who might have the same plight or for people who cannot afford veterinary care at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital. Bublitz explains, "Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital is one of the best animal hospitals in Colorado. I would like to see all animals receive the proper medical attention for their pet without worrying about the cost." The fund is through Wells Fargo Banks.
