New York, NY, November 07, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The Knowledge Congress, the leading producer of regulatory focused webinars announced today that Susan Jones, National Partner in Charge of Audit Standards of Grant Thornton will speak at the Knowledge Congress’ upcoming webinar entitled: “Board Adopts New Auditing Standard No. 6: Evaluating Consistency of Financial Statements”. If approved by SEC, PCAOB’s Auditing Standard No. 6 is expected to improve the consistency of a company’s financial statements as prepared by auditors who will now be required to evaluate and report established inconsistencies in said financial statements. Companies and investors should have a complete understanding of what this new standard can offer as well as its potential impact on their business relations.
The Knowledge Congress is assembling a panel of distinguished professionals and key regulators to help the public understand the possible impact of the new standard on entities that are most affected by them. The panel will present their findings, which include “Best Practices” in a two-hour Live webinar.
About Susan Jones
Susan Jones is the national Partner in Charge -Auditing Standards at Grant Thornton LLP. She is a member of the International Audit and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB), and she represents the firm in the activities of the Auditing Standards Board (ASB) and, and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). She also works with Grant Thornton’s National Professional Standards Group to ensure that the auditing standards are appropriately incorporated into the Firm’s audit methodology.
Susan came to Grant Thornton from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), where she was the Director-International. In that role, she represented the US profession internationally, including working with other national accountancy organizations to make the profession’s views and concerns known to regulators around the world, advancing the profession in developing nations, developing national and international auditing standards, and making speeches around the world. Also during her tenure at the AICPA, she served on the staff of the ASB, and was seconded to the International Federation of Accountants to serve on the staff of the International Auditing Practices Committee (now known as the IAASB).
Prior to her career at the AICPA, Susan spent some time in academe and some time in the finance department of a consumer products company. She started in a small CPA firm in New Jersey.
Susan is a CPA in the States of New York and New Jersey. She is a member of the AICPA and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Susan has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Delaware, and a Masters in Business Administration from New York
