Association Telecom Basics CAM Continuing Education Course Approved by Florida DBPR
Broadband Agreement Specialists, Inc. has been approved by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation to offer a new continuing education course for Licensed Community Associations Managers on the subject of condo and homeowner association telecom services, issues and options.
Davie, FL, November 10, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation has approved a new continuing education course for Licensed Community Associations Managers (CAMs). Offered solely by state approved provider, Broadband Agreement Specialists, Inc., the course is designed to educate licensed association managers about today’s telecommunications services, issues and options, as they relate to video, voice and Internet services provided to Florida condominium and homeowner associations.
The course, Association Telecom Basics, Video Internet & Voice – Options, Rights & Obligations offers an integrated view covering video, voice and data, for both condominium and homeowner associations. Administered in lecture format by residential telecommunications industry expert, Jay M. Abbazia, the course includes subject matter relating to the various telecom services currently offered, emerging technologies, the competitive landscape, agreement types, private property rights issues, recent regulatory changes and agreement negotiations.
“Recent regulatory changes by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), plus new technologies and increased competition from cable, satellite and telephone company providers have created confusion for many associations,” stated Mr. Abbazia. “As a result, we’re pleased that the DBPR has approved our 2 credit-hour course for community association managers, so they can be better prepared to guide and advise their respective associations.” The primary goal of the course is to educate and inform association managers, creating a better understanding of telecom issues and options, with the desired result of improved service offerings and financial arrangements for the communities they manage. The course is written in an unbiased manner and does not endorse one product, technology or telecommunications service or provider over another.
Under Florida DBPR guidelines, community association manager licensees must satisfactorily complete 20-hours of continuing education comprised of courses approved by the Council, pursuant to Rule 61-20.5082, F.A.C. in several areas. This DBPR Course, Approval #9625502, falls under the category of additional instruction courses directly related to the management or administration of community associations (Other). Licensed community association managers successfully completing the course will be awarded two (2) hours of continuing education credit.
This course is currently approved and available for administration to community association managers within the State of Florida. The purpose of the course is for continuing education, and it is not intended to be relied upon as legal or professional advice, since association legal rights and obligations will vary. Association managers should seek legal advice when necessary and as appropriate. Licensed managers wishing to enroll in the course should contact Jay Abbazia at 954.889.1967, or visit www.broadbandagr.com/cam. Florida DBPR State Provider #0004624.
