Peer-Reviewed Flexiciser Clinical Trials Published by the Journal for Spinal Cord Medicine
Carlsbad, CA, November 08, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Flexiciser International which provides movement therapy solutions for people with mobility challenges today announced that its Clinical Trials have been published by the Journal for Spinal Cord Medicine. The Clinical Trials were completed by Dr. Todd Astorino, member of the Board of Directors of the American Society of Exercise Physiologists, and in collaboration with the Kinesiology Department at California State University San Marcos, and Project Walk Spinal Cord Injury Recovery Clinic. The results of this latest study demonstrate immediate benefits in Heart Rate, Blood Pressure, Ratings of Perceived Exertion and Oxygen Uptake.
Since 1982, Flexiciser has designed motorized exercise products for the mobility challenged, including paraplegics, quadriplegics, and individuals who can not maintain movement through natural means.
Loss of movement has severe consequences, both physically and mentally. The Flexiciser provides both passive and active movement and can help to eliminate or relieve many physical challenges such as bad circulation, swelling in limbs, spasticity, muscle atrophy, edema, stiff joints, and more. It can also provide resistance training to strengthen the arms and torso, if the patient so chooses.
The results of the Flexiciser Spinal Cord Injury Clinical Trials demonstrated significant increases (p < 0.05) in Heart Rate (HR), systolic Blood Pressure (BP), Ratings of Perceived Exertion (RPE) as well as oxygen uptake (VO2) from rest to exercise. The subjects completed two 30-min movement therapy sessions within one week time period. The study sample included patients with complete and incomplete injuries. Level of injury ranged from thoracic (T4-T6 and T-10) to cervical (four C5-C6 injuries and three C6-C7).
Mr. Arthur M. Kassel, Chairman, Founder and CEO: "We are ecstatic about the results of yet another successful Clinical Trials with Flexiciser and the Publication of the study outcomes by the Journal for Spinal Cord Medicine. We are extremely pleased to have had the chance to collaborate with California State University System and the distinguished Dr. Todd Astorino in the Cal State San Marcos Kinesiology Department on discovering the results of Flexiciser on Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) patients."
