The Free General Document Analysis (GDA) Tool Analyzes President-Elect Barack Obama's and Senator John McCain's Nomination, Victory, and Concession Speeches
Cherry Hill, NJ, November 10, 2008 --(PR.com)-- President-elect Barack Obama and Senator John McCain's nomination, victory, and concessions speeches were submitted to the free General Document Analysis (GDA) tool. The tool was set to rate the emotions, overall feelings (positive or negative), and general policy approaches. The findings were fascinating and are summarized as follows starting with the victory and concession speeches:
Emotions: Both speeches contained elements of love and Barack's speech also had an element of fear as to be expected when getting a new job, especially president of the United States. Only 2 of the 5 emotions (Fear, Happy, Hate, Love, Sad) considered were triggered.
Fear ========= 2 Barack
Love ======== 3 Barack - - - 5 McCain
Overall Reaction: This comes only as a positive or negative rating. Both victory and concession speeches came across as positive however Barack's speech also had some reality of his new challenge.
Negative ====== 2 Barack
Positive ======= 3 Barack - - - 6 McCain
Approach: This tries to capture overall policy approaches. There is another template in GDA to perform detailed policy document analysis, but it was not used for this analysis. Even though this was not a time to layout policy, Barack's speech leaned more towards science and education.
Education ======== 01 Barack
Government ====== 11 Barack - - - 3 McCain
People ========== 08 Barack - - - 3 McCain
Science ========= 01 Barack
The nomination speeches are interesting. There appear to be 2 points of distinction between Barack and John. Barack had a large emphasis of Love and John triggered a large Negative reading in the overall reaction. There was also the new element of science and technology in Baracks acceptance speech.
Fear ========== 02 Barack - - - 01 John
Happy ======== 01 Barack - - - 00 John
Hate ========= 04 Barack - - - 04 John
Love ========= 16 Barack - - - 10 John
Sad ========== 00 Barack - - - 00 John
Negative ========== 3 Barack - - - 21 John
Positive ========== 8 Barack - - - 07 John
Education ========= 08 Barack - - - 03 John
Government ======= 18 Barack - - - 15 John
International ======= 00 Barack - - - 01 John
Markets ========== 03 Barack - - - 07 John
People =========== 11 Barack - - - 13 John
Scienc e========== 01 Barack - - - 00 John
Systems ========= 00 Barack - - - 01 John
Technology ======= 02 Barack - - - 00 John
