Telecommunications Company Wants to Increase Jobs in Davidson County.
Lexington, NC, November 12, 2008 --(PR.com)-- As North Carolina’s unemployment rate continues to climb and Davidson County’s hovers above 7 percent, there is good news in the telecommunications sector: Lexington-based TelWorx Communications is poised to double its employment base and build a new headquarters in Davidson County.
“Our business continues to grow, and we need bigger facilities to enable that future growth,” says Tim Scronce, president and CEO TelWorx, a provider of products, solutions and technical services to the telecom industry. “TelWorx is national in scope and needs additional office and warehouse space to facilitate its growth.”
TelWorx is interested in moving to the northern part of Davidson County. If TelWorx expands its operation in the county, it will be an outstanding event for Davidson County, according to Steve Googe, executive director of the Davidson County Economic Development Commission.
“Since 2000, we have incurred more than 7,500 job losses in Davidson County,” Googe says. “In these economic conditions, the possibility of a TelWorx expansion is very exciting. The company will create highly paid professional jobs with average salaries in excess of $60,000, which are more than double our current county average wage. Growing companies like TelWorx fit perfectly with our mission of seeing the per capita income and quality of life increase for the residents of Davidson County.”
TelWorx is a leading provider of products, solutions and technical services to the wireless, wireline, data center and government sectors. In addition, TelWorx provides “back office” business processes for its fast-growing sister company, TowerWorx, a manufacturer of mobile tower solutions.
“Like TelWorx, TowerWorx is experiencing exponential growth at our 120,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Pryor, Oklahoma,” says Brenda Scronce, CEO of the sister company. “Our domestic and international shipments continue to grow, and our employee base will be tripling in size over the next three years.”
Despite the country’s economic slowdown, TowerWorx and TelWorx have stayed the course by focusing on the customer and providing key telecom products and services. “I always tell my employees that we need to understand the goals and objectives of our customers — and then help the customer meet those goals and objectives,” Scronce says. “In this current economic environment, one of our customers’ key objectives is to lower their costs. Our success has been at helping them find innovative ways to do just that.”
