HorseAbility Asks Long Islanders to Take the "Go Green Challenge"

Melville, NY, November 13, 2008 --(PR.com)-- HorseAbility, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Melville, has announced a fundraising effort which will in turn help the environment and save money at the gas pumps. The “Go Green Challenge,” according to Katie Kilcommons-McGowan, Founder and Executive Director of HorseAbility, “is our greatest fundraising endeavor yet and a very exciting time for us. This opportunity offers our supporters, a chance to win some horsepower of their own – a 2009 Chevy Malibu Hybrid!”

As a nonprofit organization, HorseAbility relies heavily on the generosity and support of financial donations. The funds raised during events and from generous individuals who make contributions throughout the year help to cover the total cost of operating expenses including horse care, board, vet care, staff, development, barn and office supplies, etc. As is everyone, HorseAbility is finding with the ever rising costs of everything, it is difficult to maintain the budget needs of the organization. Marketing and PR Director from HorseAbility, Amanda Leitl, stated that “We need to unite the efforts of the Long Island community and beyond to help make this fundraiser a great success.” Tickets can be purchased 3 for $100. Raffle will be drawn on December 13 at HorseAbility, 238 Round Swamp Road, Melville, NY.

The 2009 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid being raffled off features dramatic changes in style, refinement and performance in the “greener direction”. This midsize family sedan is now much more than a status quo American automobile. Its huge improvements now allow it to compete in a segment full of heavyweights, most of which are Asian imports. Powered by the standard 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine and a 36-volt electric motor/generator, the Malibu Hybrid produces a respectable 164 horsepower and 159 pound-feet of torque. Fuel economy rates at an efficient 24 city/32 highway.

HorseAbility, offers a wide range of opportunities to its clients including a Therapeutic Riding Program, Hippotherapy Program, one-week Summer Day Camp, and an Equine Facilitated Therapy Program. Located in Melville NY, HorseAbility also offers volunteer opportunities. Horse experience is not a necessity. HorseAbility currently provides quality equine experiences year round to over 300 clients with the assistance of more then 350 volunteers. The program continues to grow.
