About Scott Waddle
As the Commanding Officer of USS Greeneville (SSN 772), which is regarded as the finest boat in the Pacific Fleet, Scott distinguished himself by formulating a successful system of beliefs that he calls Deck Plate Leadership. This concept replaces command and control with commitment and cohesion by engaging the hearts, minds, and loyalties of workers. Scott and his crew were tested when the Greeneville collided with a Japanese fishing training vessel. Nine people aboard the vessel were killed, causing controversy worldwide. Scott publicly took responsibility for his and his crew’s actions during the tragedy and was later commended for his honesty and integrity.
