Rising Star April Smith Announces First Nationwide Tour

New York, NY, November 15, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Breakthrough singer-songwriter April Smith, managed by Good Kid Entertainment, has just announced she will join headliner J.D. Souther on his upcoming nationwide tour, which kicked off Nov. 3rd, to support the release of her latest EP, "Live from the Penthouse."

Souther, whose career has been highlighted by numerous hit songs recorded by artists including the Eagles, Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor and India Arie, says he chose Smith as his tour-mate over a wide selection of other female singers he had to choose from.

Smith has recently gained popularity in both the underground and mainstream music media based on her electric live performances. She was catapulted into the spotlight earlier this year when her hit "Colors" was featured on PerezHilton.com as "the kind of tune you'd hear on an episode of Grey's Anatomy or in the next iPod commercial. It's sweet (which we love), quirky (which we love) and hooky (which we love)."

Additionally, Smith recently participated in the Evolve One, Evolve All campaign with MTV and Trojan to educate teens and college age students about the dangers of unprotected sex. Her custom PSA video spot featuring her track "Colors" was used in their online ad campaign, which generated millions of impressions on Web sites such as MySpace and MSN.

Credited as the "most deserving of a major record label deal" in 2008 by Jersey Shore Metromix, Smith's tour has 25 scheduled stops, which started on Nov. 3 in Annapolis, MD and ends in Los Angeles on December 16th.

"I am thrilled to be touring nationally," said Smith, who was born and raised in New Jersey. "This is my first chance to perform live for my fans on the west coast."
