About Bill Mauldin:
He created one of America’s most famous cartoons: the weeping statue of Abraham Lincoln at the Lincoln Memorial after President Kennedy’s assassination.
Mauldin worked at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch from 1958 to 1962.
Mauldin’s Stars and Stripes cartoons about World War II won the 1945 Pulitzer Prize, making him the youngest person to be awarded this prize.
Mauldin died on January 22, 2003 at the age of 81.
