O’Guin Decorative Arts Completes Two Unique Projects
Cory O’Guin says, “Our work created a new look, but kept the old world charm of the hotel which was built in 1892. It was important to maintain the authenticity of the hotel since it sets on the edge of the Historic District of Nantucket.”
Naples, FL, November 19, 2008 --(PR.com)-- O’Guin Decorative Arts is pleased to announce the completion of two unique projects, showcasing the company’s commitment to quality, creativity and sophistication. A highly trained and skilled team of professionals from O’Guin’s Naples-based business traveled to the New England Coast and Central Florida for the endeavors.
The first project was at the historic Point Breeze Hotel on Nantucket Island, Massachusetts. Cory O’Guin led a team to the Northeast to refinish a ceiling in the Function Room and to transform a bathroom at the hotel. For the Function Room ceiling, the team used a new finish that was actually meant to look “old” and distressed to match the historic architecture of the area. They also transformed the bathroom by utilizing Spatula Stuhhi which is an imported lime-based plaster. Technique and product worked together to create the finished looks.
O’Guin says, “Our work created a new look, but kept the old world charm of the hotel which was built in 1892. It was important to maintain the authenticity of the hotel since it sets on the edge of the Historic District of Nantucket.”
The second project was at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Tampa. O’Guin and his assistant, Pablo Esquivel once again employed the use of the Italian lime-based plaster called Spatula Stuhhi. They transformed the Grand Foyer of the newly added ballroom facility by installing, waxing and buffing the durable plaster product. The 40 foot wall in the Grand Foyer is now a focal point.
O’Guin’s project capped off a multi-year, multi-million dollar remodeling project of the ballroom and meeting facility at the Sheraton Hotel and Resort.
O’Guin says, “The choice to use Spatula Stuhhi was simple. The product adds shine and durability to any project. It also provides an elegant sophistication for any room.” He added, “The Sheraton’s building engineer gave us a great compliment by saying the finished project was gorgeous. We take pride in our work and never grow tired of comments like these.”
Hennessy Construction asked O’Guin Decorative Arts to do the Sheraton job because of a prior working relationship on a project at the Don Cesar Spa in St. Petersburg, FL. The Spa’s ceiling was designed and finished using an Italian plaster. O’Guin’s installation was completed earlier this year.
In addition to these projects, O’Guin’s company has installed handmade wall coverings in many private residences and offices in Naples. In connection with Wegman Design Group, O’Guin Decorative Arts has finished projects at Orion Bank, Bigham Jewelers and the pediatric center of Naples Community Hospital. Another installation can be seen in the Raymond James building in Magnolia Square in Naples.
O’Guin Decorative Arts has been operating in Naples for seven years creating and installing custom wallpapers, fine finishes and textures, as well as natural earth and lime plasters. The company utilizes Old World techniques and internationally-recognized imported materials to develop finishes that complement the fabrics and surfaces of the home.
O’Guin Decorative Arts is a second-generation decorative arts studio. For over 25 years, the skilled team of trained artisans has treated each installation as an original work of art. The team scours the world for unique materials and processes, incorporating them into their work with meticulous attention to detail and unsurpassed creativity.
