Latin Grammy Winning Artists and Emerging Fashion Designers Collaborate at Victor Hotel on November 21
Ratio Nation and Ratio Network come together as Ratio presents... Concepts, a two day excursion into new artistic and entrepreneurial dynamics.
Chicago, IL, November 21, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Ratio LLC is pleased to announce day two of Concepts, a production featuring exclusive DJ sets, full fashion show, and a debut performance in Chicago by the live dance music band the Fantastek Duo. Mauricio Arcas from Los Amigos Invisibles will be showing his all new clothing line, Missile. The event will also feature emerging fashion designer from San Francisco, Gisela Castaneda. Venezuelan purse, handbag, and accessories designer Karen Soto will launch her designs from New York here in Chicago.
DJ Afro (A.K.A. Jose Luis Pardo) from Los Amigos Invisibles. DJ Afro, the bands guitar player, is in charge of heating up the party and making sure the night starts well enough to move your feet with really funky rhythms. He is responsible for writing more than 80% of LAIs music, as well as playing guitar, keyboard and background vocals for all five albums. He has also been featured on Louie Vega's "Elements of life" and Dimitri from Paris's "Cruising attitude". Aside from his work with the band, DJ Afro also enjoys a respected career as a remix producer. He just released his first solo track, "Mala Idea" (look at you records).
FantastekDuo Mauricio Arcas (Los Amigos Invisibles) and Eduardo Larez (a.k.a. Yare) create a cool party/lounge atmosphere mixing synthetic and live sounds of house, funk, latin and world beats.
Mauricio Arcas is a member of Los Amigos Invisibles and will be showing his new clothing line, Missle for the first time in the US. Missile is a clothing brand created for those with an urban style in mind. To the men and women that are a city's fashion driving force, always moving forward, aiming toward a target. Just like a Missile would. People that are part of a dynamic collective, seeking similar traits in others. Missile was born in the streets of New York, with a strong, distinctive concept tailored to a global market. Their launch starts in Venezuela and Mexico with the subsequent addition of sales online.
Gisela Castaneda’s passion for design, art, and fashion brought her to New York City in 2004, where she was able to refine her sewing and pattern making skills. New York's myriad of clothing styles, from urban to glamorous, is what Gisela chose to be her next backdrop. Her Punk style of rebelliousness through colors and hues had now been joined by a more sophisticated design pallet. Now in 2008, the art scene, galleries, Gay Pride parades, and urban vintage style that comprise San Francisco's Bay Area street life, give Gisela insight and inspiration to continue to create fashion for a label any person would love to wear, and wear with pride.
Soto & Torres’s Adriana Torres and Karen Soto are New Yorkers who have found in accessories the instruments they need to express the way they feel about the outside world.
