ProLipoTM and Vaser® Laser-Assisted Liposuction Technologies Added to the Service Menu of Edina’s Skin Rejuvenation Clinic
Twin Cities’ medical spa, Skin Rejuvenation Clinic now offers the ground-breaking, FDA-approved, ProLipo and Vaser, laser-assisted liposuction/lipolysis procedures. Relatively new to Minnesota, ProLipo and Vaser are minimally invasive methods for melting and removing unwanted fat.
Minneapolis, MN, November 23, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Elizabeth Hagberg, MD and her husband Mark Hagberg, MD, owners of Skin Rejuvenation Clinic located in Edina, Minnesota now offers laser and ultrasound-assisted liposuction to the cosmetic center’s menu of services. ProLipo and Vaser are new, ground-breaking minimally invasive procedures for melting and removing unwanted accumulations of fat without the pain, bruising, and downtime associated with recovery from traditional liposuction surgery.
Developed in 2007 and now FDA-approved, ProLipo laser-assisted liposuction (SmartLipo, CoolLipo and Slim Lipo are similar) involves injecting dilute local anesthetic solution into the targeted fat space. Once the fat space is completely numb, a cannula containing a laser fiber is passed through small incisions in the skin (many typically do not require stitches). The distributed laser energy is absorbed by the targeted fatty areas, resulting in a destruction of fat cells. Vaser works similarly, utilizing ultrasound energy. An added benefit of ProLipo/Vaser is that they also help tighten skin in the targeted area through collagen remodeling.
According to Dr. Mark Hagberg, ProLipo has been widely-embraced by the public and members of the cosmetic industry due to several factors.
“Traditional liposuction requires a cannula to be inserted under the skin to remove isolated pockets of fat. But when you manually suction fat without the newer technologies, the aggressive back and forth motion causes more bleeding, swelling and destruction of tissue,” he says. “Laser-assisted liposuction is gentler and takes traditional liposuction to the next level by actually melting fat cells before they are removed, causing much less trauma to tissue, resulting in decreased bleeding, swelling and bruising. This ultimately leads to a faster recovery,” he continues. “In fact, the treatment is so comfortable, at our clinic patients do not need to be put to sleep; they are kept awake and relaxed.”
Dr. Hagberg adds that in addition to melting the fat, ProLipo and Vaser procedures cause the body to stimulate production of collagen, resulting smoother and tighter skin in the targeted area, with continued tightening for up to six months.
Mark K. Hagberg, MD and his wife Elizabeth Hagberg, MD have devoted their full-time practice to delivering minimally and non-invasive cosmetic care at Skin Rejuvenation Clinic in the Minneapolis / St. Paul area. In addition to owning and operating Skin Rejuvenation Clinic on a daily basis, the physicians administer all of the anti-aging laser and injectable services themselves.
Dr. Elizabeth Hagberg graduated from the University of Minnesota with an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and a degree in Medicine. She is board-certified through the American Board of Family Medicine. Dr. Mark Hagberg received his undergraduate degree from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN and his medical diploma from the University of Minnesota Medical School. He is board-certified through the American Board of Family Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice.
Drs. Beth and Mark have trained with many of the top plastic surgeons and cosmetic dermatologists in the country. They also train physicians, physician assistants, and nurses on various anti-aging laser and injectable procedures.
