Ahmed Darwish, a partner at Factorybrand, spoke about reaching potential customers who are outside the reach of retailers who carry Factorybrand products.
“There’s plenty of fashion-forward stylish individuals in more suburban or rural areas with access to the internet, but no local boutique shop where they can purchase edgy fashion accessories such as ours,” he said.
Those fashion accessories include a variety of studded belts along with a new style of “breakthrough” studs. These belts feature studs peaking through slashed leather, making for a unique subtle studded belt. Other basic belts feature a vintage worn-in look to go with the edgy artwork on their buckles.
Local artists in Los Angeles are commissioned by Factorybrand to come up with original artwork to put on buckles which are made of maple wood, epoxy or pewter. While the buckles are sold individually without a belt strap, all of Factorybrand’s belts come with an interchangeable basic buckle for customers to mix and match.
Hoping to reach those underserved customers and establish more of brand identity and connect with current customers, the website features a mailing lists viewers can join along with a link to add Factorybrand as a friend on MySpace or Facebook.
