EmPower Insights Into New Faces of Leadership
EmPower Research LLC shared the insights on the topic “New Faces of Leadership: Young CEOs and CXOs” at the NASSCOM IT Women Leadership Summit 2008.
New York, NY, December 01, 2008 --(PR.com)-- EmPower Research LLC, a predominantly women executive led organization, is pleased to announce that one of its Co-founders and Managing Partners, Shoma Bakre, was invited as a Guest Speaker at the NASSCOM IT Women Leadership Summit 2008, held on 19th and 20th November 2008 at Bangalore. The theme of the event was “Transforming Enterprises and Societies” and examined the business imperatives of having an inclusive workforce and the role of women leaders in successful organizations in a rapidly evolving and uncertain world.
Shoma participated in a panel discussion and delivered a very inspiring talk on the topic “New Faces of Leadership: Young CEOs and CXOs.” Her message was simple and loud - the opportunity is at hand, so women need to grab it. While organizations are realizing the need for gender inclusivity and developing leadership programs and initiatives for women, the onus is on women to choose to be leaders and seize the opportunities that are now available to them. Shoma shared her experience of managing two young children at home and managing EmPower Research, which she referred to as her third and youngest child. According to her, the amount of commitment that is required to juggle both ends is phenomenal. Prioritizing and planning has been the key to her success and something that all women need to do in order to be successful both in their personal and professional lives. She emphasized that the key to professional success is plain and simple hard work and many times personal sacrifices have to be made for pursuing and fulfilling professional goals and aspirations. Shoma’s message said that success knows no gender, it comes to those who are determined to be successful, have the passion to follow their vision, and work hard to achieve it. The much talked about work–life balance is almost a myth now and needs to be redefined by each individual to suit his or her lifestyle and aspirations.
Exploring ways to drive corporates into creating an inclusive work force and nurturing women leaders was the key agenda of the summit. There were discussions around the obstacles in the path of career women, and what measures could mitigate these obstacles and stop women from opting out of their career, after having contributed greatly to the organization they worked for. The summit was attended by women managers and leaders from various corporates, predominantly from the IT/ITES sectors. There were many presentations made by women leaders of the day, women who have thrived in the face of challenges and proven that gender cannot be a roadblock to professional growth and success.
