Pleasant Grove High School Band Marches to Two 1st Place Wins in Recent Community Events

Pleasant Grove High School Marching Band again claimed the top band award at the 2008 Elk Grove Parade of Lights event.

Elk Grove, CA, December 04, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The skies were clear and the festive holiday mood surrounded Old Town Elk Grove as the Pleasant Grove High School Marching Band again claimed the top band award at the 2008 Elk Grove Parade of Lights event. The colorguard led the band carrying giant lighted snowflakes. The band wore Santa hats and their uniforms were illuminated with lights and glow sticks as they played Brad Pearson’s arrangement of “Jingle Bell Jam.” Following the band was a large snowman on wheels and a beautifully decorated support vehicle, complete with a bow on top.

“I am very fortunate to have such talented musicians in our band program,” said Jay DeWald, band instructor at PGHS and Katherine Albiani Middle School. “They all work very hard and really enjoy performing.”

This win comes on the heels of the marching band’s recent success at the Elk Grove Veteran’s Day Parade; outplaying four other schools for the top honors. Their winning performance included the music, “Armed Forces March”.

“We always appreciate the community and parent support that our music program receives,” said Holly Yue, Band Booster Club President. “Without this support it would make it difficult for our student musicians to shine like they do.”
