New Auction Technology Huge Success at Annual Dance Benefit
River North Dance Company increased its proceeds at its annual benefit this year by 100% from last year with the help of Events.org’s Interactive Auction technology.
Chicago, IL, December 05, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The River North Chicago Dance Company (RNCDC) held its Annual Benefit-The Body Electric Thursday, November 13. The evening began with a performance by the company at the Harris Theater and then moved to the Fairmont Chicago Hotel for dinner and a night of auctions and fun. RNCDC had recruited Events.org to help organize the auctions for the evening, choosing to showcase eleven items by Interactive Auction. “We were very impressed with how innovative and easy-to-use the Interactive Auction proved to be,” said Gary Metzner, Senior Vice President with Sotheby’s Midwest and the Event Co-Chair. RNDC increased its proceeds by 100% from last year, 50% of which were generated by the Interactive Auction. Events.org’s auction technology streamlined the auction process and is proving to be a rising success.
When guests arrived at the benefit, they were given the choice of registering for express check-out, in which they were invited to swipe their credit card so that it would be on file and would not have to wait in line after the auction closed. Then, each guest was given a bidder number that they would use for the Interactive Auction. Events.org provided staff to assist with the Interactive Auction. A bidder could walk up to any of the staff, who were each equipped with either Touch Screen tablets or iPod Touch loaded with Interactive Auction, and placed a bid electronically.
Guests were impressed with the new technology, often expressing their wish that all auction items to be listed electronically at the next event. The software allowed each bidder to immediately know whether (s)he was winning a bid, displaying the winning bidder and the amount of the bid on Events.org screens placed around the room. One particular feature that many guests appreciated was the ability to place a maximum bid that would allow them to enjoy their evening without having to return to the table to raise their bids on an ongoing basis. “Our auction really wouldn't have been half the success it was without Events.org and the Interactive Auction,” said Gary.
The RNCDC Annual Benefit was a huge success in part to the new innovative technology provided by Events.org and the assistance of Events.org’s staff. Tolearn more about Events.org and its Interactive Auction technology (patent pending), go to www.events.org or call Meghan at 847.513.6460 ext. 305.
