FCO Extends Contract to Deliver British Satellite News
London, United Kingdom, December 06, 2008 --(PR.com)-- World Television, the leading video communications agency, is pleased to announce the renewal of its contract with the UK Government’s Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) to deliver British Satellite News. The contract, worth approximately £1.5m p.a., will run for one year before being reviewed again in October 2009.
British Satellite News, www.bsn.org.uk, is a free television news and features service currently utilised by over 550 broadcasters across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and South East Asia. The service also makes its programming available online in both English and Arabic via World Television’s web TV offering, Channel Player.
In extending the contract with World Television, the FCO will further develop its online distribution, most notably with Video News Manager – an online media centre that will allow journalists to download broadcast-quality footage and other multimedia assets to support their on- and offline stories. The new contract also gives BSN the added flexibility to more effectively manage its resources, allowing the service to respond more readily to market needs.
Steve Garvey, CEO, World Television Group said: “British Satellite News will continue to provide broadcasters with a valuable service for delivering coverage of topical worldwide stories from a British perspective. Meanwhile, the online video phenomenon is providing exciting opportunities for organisations like BSN and we look forward to working evermore closely with the FCO to drive its online distribution strategy forward.”
