The “Tree of Life” Ceremony at HarborPlace
Treasure Coast Hospice presented the "Tree of Life" memorial ceremony under the portico of HarborPlace at Port St Lucie. Residents and staff were given the opportunity to memorialize their loved ones with tagged Christmas ornaments.
Port St Lucie, FL, December 10, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Treasure Coast Hospice treated HarborPlace Retirement Resort and Assisted Living residents and staff to an awesome “Tree of Life” ceremony. Following the Welcome and Invocation was an inspirational talk about Treasuring Memories and a Message of Hope. Then shiny gold Christmas balls with memory tags were handed out and the residents and staff were able to honor their loved ones by writing messages on the tags. After enjoying eggnog and cookies, the residents and staff placed their ornaments on the “Tree of Life” in their respective buildings, and the tree lights were lit.
In the program, Treasure Coast Hospice (www.tchospice.org) offered “Our sincere gratitude and special thanks for the use of your beautiful residence.”
Deb Thompson, HarborPlace Event and Dining Services Manager, said, “This is my favorite holiday event.” When asked why, she explained, “It really adds meaning to the season. The looks of love and adoration on the people’s faces as they put their decoration on the tree are priceless. This year wasn’t as emotional as some years because not as many people had lost loved ones, but to see some residents honoring their parents, who may have been gone for 20-30 years or more…” Tears filled her eyes and she had to stop speaking.
