Girl Help Appeals to the Community for Support This Holiday Season

This holiday season, service organizations are feeling the pinch more than ever before. As feelings of uncertainty linger over the holidays, less people are donating to organizations that assist adults and children in need. Girl Help, a new club for school-aged girls interested in local fundraisers and service projects, is in full swing to help The Raleigh Rescue Mission.

Raleigh, NC, December 10, 2008 --(PR.com)-- From December 8-22, 2008, Girl Help will be accepting donations for the Raleigh Recuse Mission, an organization providing food, clothing and support for the homeless and others in crisis. Falls River Books, located in North Raleigh, will be the donation drop-off point for new items including food, children's clothing and activity supplies.

Steven Elliot, owner of Falls River Books recalls, "I met Girl Help in June, where the girls raised over $1,300 for the Literacy Council of Wake County. I was amazed at their enthusiasm and involvement in community service, and wanted to support them this holiday season."

Items that are needed include dried fruit, dried snacks, granola bars, canned fruit, grocery cards, coloring and activity books, children's music CDs, construction paper, play dough, kid's scissors, washable markers, children's shoes, socks, sweat suits, undershirts, pajamas, belts and girl's tights.

Girl Help was started by two sisters in Raleigh, who came up with the idea to form a club whose sole purpose would be to raise money through fundraisers for various charitable organizations. Girl Help organizes four to six fundraisers a year and are committed to their motto, "the fun way to help the world!"

"Steven with Falls River Books has provided invaluable resources in the last year," Kelly Vandermel with Girl Help comments, "Steven has been a wonderful asset, committed to serving a variety of organizations in our community through Girl Help. We are appreciative of all of his efforts and service." For more information on Girl Help, visit their website at www.clubgirlhelp.org.

Just remember, it doesn't take much to help adults and children in need this holiday season. For more specific information about donating items, please contact Steven Elliot at 919-870-9800 or visit www.fallsriverbooks.com.
