A Chilly Day to Show Paint Horses

Even the nasty weather couldn't dampen the competitive spirits of the participants of the Eastern Ontario Paint Horse Club show.

A Chilly Day to Show Paint Horses
Ottawa, Canada, June 12, 2006 --(PR.com)-- It was a cold, damp, blustery and sometimes downright spooky day for the Eastern Ontario Paint Horse Club Show held at the Richmond Fairgrounds on June 10, 2006.

The temperature hovered at a bone-chilling 8 degrees Celcius with a brisk northwest wind that mercilessly gusted up to 40 km per hour all day, causing cold fingers and runny noses. There was much talk of shows from years past when the weather was unbearably hot.

Despite the uncooperative weather, many dedicated and seasoned competitors turned out with their colourful horses to put on a good show. The halter and showmanship classes went off quickly and without a hitch. Two American judges presided at the EOPHC show, giving competitors the chance to earn double APHA points.

Slick conditions in the sand ring caused many to scratch from the mounted classes, but the show continued like a well-oiled machine. The leadline classes were especially well-received and eagerly awaited by the children, for whom neither snow nor rain would have dampened their enthusiasm.

The next EOPHC will be held on Sunday, July 23. The show is APHA sanctioned and once again will be double-judged. We wish all competitors the best of luck and weather for the next show.
