QNAP TS-509 Pro Wins techPowerUp Editor's Choice & Benchmark Reviews Golden Tachometer Award
Taipei, Taiwan, December 13, 2008 --(PR.com)-- QNAP Systems, Inc. is pleased to announce our TS-509 Pro Turbo NAS wins the 'Editor's Choice' from techPowerUp.com and 'Golden Tachometer Award' from Benchmark Reviews for its high performance, excellent hardware design and rich features.
The TS-509 Pro is designed for small business to enterprise users who require performance, features, capacity, and manageability. In the ATTO benchmark test run by techPowerUp, the TS-509 Pro showed an impressive result and the author quoted 'it seems the TS-509 Pro can burst smaller amounts of data extremely fast. Smaller is relative here though, 350MB files fly. When transferring DVD images speed settles at around 60MB/s. Still a lot better than most of the competition.' The test results from Benchmark Reviews showed that the TS-509 Pro delivered the best read and write performance in both single disk and RAID 5 configurations. 'It handily outperformed the closest competition we compared it against in our benchmark tests. With tremendous read-from bandwidth peaking around 64.0 MiB/s (mebibit per second; 100 MiB / Mebibyte = 104,857,600 bytes) for a 1 Gibibyte file (1 GiB / Gibibyte = 1,073,741,824 bytes), and actually improving to 68.3 MiB/s in write-to performance, the Turbo Station proved itself to be a real top-performer', commented the editor.
The hardware design and the software features of the TS-509 Pro are highly appreciated in both reviews. According to techPowerUp, 'the TS-509 uses far more powerful hardware which improves performance over the previous generation a lot' and 'the firmware has already proven to be full featured, solid, and easy to use.' Powered by Intel Celeron 1.6GHz CPU and 1GB DDRII memory, the 5-bay hot-swappable TS-509 Pro provides unique DOM architecture with embedded fail-safe dual OS. The Linux OS and applications of the NAS are embedded in the flash DOM that higher stability is guaranteed. The two Gigabit LAN ports can be configured as Failover, Load balancing, or serving two different subnets.
