Sandbridge Technologies Agreement with 4M Wireless for LTE Protocol Stack
Sandbridge Technologies, a fabless semiconductor company developing 4G multi-mode baseband processors for mobile devices, has signed an agreement with 4M Wireless, a leading protocol software provider, for the 4M Wireless LTE protocol stack.
London, United Kingdom, December 12, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Sandbridge Technologies, a cutting edge fabless semiconductor company developing multi-mode baseband/multimedia processors for low-cost advanced mobile devices, announced today that it has signed an agreement with 4M Wireless for its 3GPP LTE protocol stack. Under the agreement, 4M Wireless will provide its PS100 LTE protocol stack for Sandbridge Technologies Sandblaster®-based SB3500 baseband processor. The 4M Wireless protocol stack will be available as source code optimised for the SB3500 platform, taking full advantage of its capabilities to provide a low memory footprint along with highly efficient execution.
The industry leading 4M Wireless PS100 LTE protocol stack consists of complete Layer 2, Layer 3 and NAS protocol software compliant to the latest 3GPP Release 8 specifications and is contiguous with the 3GPP schedules. The 4M Wireless protocol stack is easily integrated with a variety of hardware platforms and operating systems and is designed to meet optimal memory and performance requirements for 4G multimode handsets as well as modems and embedded devices for laptops and desktop computers. The stack is continuously subjected to rigorous inter-operability testing with leading infrastructure vendors and has already been incorporated into several products.
“Integration of 4M Wireless’s LTE protocol stack on the SB3500 enables Sandbridge to provide a complete LTE solution for our customers,” said Tanuj Raja VP business development for the company. “Partnerships with independent software companies such as 4M Wireless, demonstrates the ease of programmability and robustness of the Sandblaster® integrated development environment (IDE) and enables us to build an eco-system of third party software around the SB3500 to provide comprehensive solutions to our mutual customers.”
“We are excited to be assisting Sandbridge expand the market for their groundbreaking technology by enabling them to provide a complete system solution for 4G,” said Atif Malik, CEO of 4M Wireless. “4M Wireless is the ideal partner for companies looking to develop 4G multimode chipsets and mobile platforms,” he continued. “Customers can incorporate the 4M Wireless LTE protocol stack and reduce overall system cost and time-to-market by focusing their engineering efforts on chip development and peripheral mix rather than the complexities of developing and maintaining the protocol stack.”
