People and Planet Are Priorities at Prestone Printing
The people and the planet are top priorities for Prestone Printing. The proof comes in the form of two prestigious awards. Crain's New York chose Prestone as one of the fifty "Best Places to Work in New York City." Prestone was also honored to be chosen one of the winners of American Printer's 2008 Environmental Excellence Award for environmentally conscious manufacturing.
Long Island, NY, December 12, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Prestone Printing believes taking care of their employees and running an environmentally responsible company will continue to pay off, even in a recession.
As the year closes, Prestone Printing is proud to have received two major honors. They ranked as number 14 (and number 5 among medium-sized business) in Crain’s New York Business’ first annual survey of “The Best Places to Work in New York City,” and won American Printer’s 2008 Environmental Excellence Award.
“As a family-owned business in business for over fifty-five years, Preston has a long-standing commitment to the quality of life of our employees and their families. Many people say their people are their biggest asset, but you demonstrate belief in those words by paying good wages and providing excellent benefits,” says Rob Adler, President of Prestone.
Crain’s conducted their study of the most desirable companies to work for in the summer of 2008 and published the finalists in November. Rankings were determined by an employee survey developed by Crain’s in partnership with Quantum Market Research. The survey measured the extent to which employees felt valued, trusted their organization’s leadership and saw potential for future advancement. Crain’s cited Prestone for their higher than average wage scale, the stability of the work force, and the interest management takes in overall employee welfare. Other attributes highlighted included Prestone’s superior benefit package and its fairness and loyalty to vendors.
Prestone Printing is proud to be part of the small group of Crain’s award winners, and another elite group—19 nationwide printers honored for their environmental consciousness by American Printer Magazine.
American Printer, owned by Penton Media, is a leading source for business trends and technical innovations shaping the commercial printing industry. Its Environmental Excellence Awards recognized commercial printers who lead the industry in environmentally conscious manufacturing. An independent panel of judges reviewed participants’ product composition, manufacturing process, facility and personnel to determine winners. They awarded Prestone with a Certificate of Merit, one of 5 winners in the commercial print division with 25 to 99 employees.
“We are pleased by the enthusiastic response from the industry, said Scott Bieda, group publisher for Penton Media. “We received many innovative entries from across all categories of the competition.”
Everyone at Prestone Printing takes pride in the award. “Right now, we don’t have many clients asking if we’re green, and that’s okay. Whether it concerns them or not, we believe it’s important to print with sustainability in mind,” Rob Adler says. “Because we’ve been around longer than most printers, we recognize that today’s decisions impact our future.”
That philosophy prompted Prestone to work with their power company and purchase carbon offsets. Their plant is now certified as 100% carbon neutral.
The current economic climate won’t change Prestone’s investment philosophy. They continue to invest in their people and our planet because they know it is the right thing to do and is the key to sustainable business growth.
