iUniverse Would Like to Announce the Release of Mud Blood by Joan Del Monte

Bloomington, IN, December 13, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Explosive secret leads mystery writer on deadly pursuit.

Mud Blood’s cast of dishonest characters leaves everyone as a suspect in murder.

In Mud Blood, all mystery writer Vera Moonachie wants to do is finish her on deadline book with her collaborator Fulton Yee. But there is one problem -- Fulton has disappeared and he is the only one that knows who the murderer is.

In this, her third mystery novel, author Joan Del Monte weaves together a large cast of characters while spicing in some history of the Sacramento Delta that will intrigue anyone from this part of California. There are Moonachie, the smart, quirky heroine who is also caring for her aging mother; Fulton, who is churning his files of nasty crimes for the plot; Fred Atkins, a private detective who Moonachie hires to help find Fulton; Nancy Branscomb, an editor whose family has a history in the Delta; Richard Spain, an aging actor who has an award-winning first book; Josh Baggins, a chef, who wants to write a book of his own and open a restaurant in the Delta and many more who add twists and turns for Moonachie to follow, including many of Fulton’s ex-lovers.

Then in the pursuit of Fulton, Mud Blood takes a shocking turn:

I tugged through the rip. The bag turned, and my stomach lurched. A body was inside. Its face was bloated, and some kind of fish had been eating it. One ear was gone. A knife was stuck under its breastbone. Yet I recognized the pattern of male baldness. That’s when I screamed and screamed. I was looking at Fulton.

When Fulton turns up murdered, Moonachie and Atkins must piece together reams of information to figure out why he was killed as well as trying to stay alive themselves. It won’t be easy with a bomber on the loose and a plethora of people with a motive to see the demise of Fulton, including those with a sordid past in the Delta.
